Its almost that time of the year again, for those yummy fresh straight out of the garden vegetables.
There is nothing like the taste of a hand picked tomato. Why not share
some of your garden with others and make extra money while you are
doing it.
Just
plow up a spot in your yard, buy some fertilizer and some starter
plants at your local homes and garden store make sure you start your
garden on time here is an article with tips for starting your garden.
What
should you grow in your garden, well I would grow the things that sale
best like tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, peppers, and how about some fruit
like water melon and cantaloupe.
I am not a gardener so I am getting the information about how to grow the plates from other resources.
Tomatoes
like a nice warm area in full sun, and need at least 8 hours of
sunlight a day. Generally you don't want to fertilize tomatoes too much
until the plant is well established, and in full flower, Always plant
tomatoes deep, and on their sides. Water regularly but allow the soil to
dry a bit between watering. You
want tomatoes to have a regular available water source without keeping
them soggy. See all the tips at Growing Tomatoes & Tomato Growing Tips
I love cucumbers nothing like Cucumber Vinegar Salad. Or just picking one straight out of your garden slicing it up and popping it in your mouth yum.
Cucumbers
are easy to grow vegetables that require full sunlight, well drained,
loamy soil, and plenty of room to grow. As cucumbers are often grown on
the ground, it is very important to make
sure that the soil in your garden is well drained meaning that water
does not pool up at the surface after a good rain. Cucumber plants are
heavy feeders. If the leaves are yellowish, this can be a sign of low nitrogen. Source Grow Cucumbers With Success.
Buy
squash plants at your local nursery for planting after all danger of
frost has passed. Choose a site that gets full sun and is moderately
fertile. Start picking zucchini, cousa and yellow squash as soon as
they're large
enough to be used - usually about 6 inches, depending on the variety.

Peppers are grown in very much
the same way as tomatoes. They are set out after all danger of frost is over and the
weather is warm. Peppers require an even supply of water to prevent stress in dry
periods; therefore, they should be set in soil high in organic matter. If plant growth is not as vigorous as desired or plants are a light or
pale green, apply a tablespoonful of nitrate fertilizer around each plant after several
blossoms have set. For more information see Growing Peppers.
Melons
prefer hot, sunny locations with fertile, well drained soils, and can
be either transplanted or direct seeded. Frequent, shallow cultivation
will kill weeds before they become a
problem. The roots of melons are close to the surface of the soil, so it
is important not to cultivate too deeply or too close to the plants.
Water deeply and infrequently, 1-2 inches per week. Use drip irrigation
if possible. Mulch around the plant will conserve soil moisture and
reduce weed growth. See more information at Growing Melons.
Have fun and good luck I hope you can make extra money with a garden, and have fun doing it.
